Fixed side steps solve the step-up problem and hand you a clearance problem in return. These do not. Retracted, the step tucks up under the sill so you keep the side clearance you started with. Extended, it drops the stepping height enough that loading kids or older passengers into a lifted ute stops being a production.

Sensor and safety system compatibility
VIKOR state the steps run off the factory door sensor rather than a separate switch, and that a safety cut-out stops the step if a limb or an object is caught during retraction. The wiring is the part that touches the vehicle's electrics, which is why this is an installer job.

How much weight will they take?
VIKOR state a 280kg load capacity for the step. That covers a heavy adult carrying gear, and it covers standing on the step to reach the roof rack, which is what most people actually use it for. The rating is VIKOR's figure, not ours.
What happens if something is under the step when it retracts?
VIKOR state a safety cut-out is fitted, so the step stops if a limb or an object is caught during retraction. That matters if you have kids getting in and out, because the step is moving at the exact moment a door is closing.
Can I fit them myself?
VIKOR state they bolt into factory mounting points with no drilling, so the mechanical side is straightforward. The wiring is not. The steps need a power feed and a trigger from the factory door sensor, so factor in professional installation.
Will they fit a Ranger Next Gen?
No. VIKOR list these for the PX series and the Gen 1 Ranger Raptor, which ran from 2018 to 2022. The Ranger Next Gen (P703) launched in 2022 with a different sill and different mounting points. Contact us for the Next Gen fitment.
