Ford Ranger Next-Gen (2022+) Tub Strengthening Bracket (J-Brace) - EGR

EGR
Price: $249.00 AUD

The J-Brace is EGR's lower tub strengthening bracket for the Ford Ranger Next Gen (P703), part 040174. EGR describe it as engineered to provide increased load capacity, manufactured using Ford Australia's motor body building guide. It reinforces the tub so a rack load goes into the tub structure rather than into panels that were never meant to take it.

EGR state this bracket does not fit Wildtrak or Platinum variants. If your Ranger is either of those, this is not the right bracket.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I am over the 45kg threshold?

Add up three things. The rack or platform itself, which for the EGR platform range is 14kg to 22kg depending on size. The gear permanently strapped to it, so jerry cans, boards and a shovel. Then the tent with people asleep in it. Most builds cross 45kg the moment a tent goes on, which is why the brace is required more often than not.

Will it fit my Wildtrak or Platinum?

No. EGR state the bracket does not fit Wildtrak or Platinum variants. This is the single most important check before ordering, so identify your variant first.

What happens if I fit a rack without it?

The load goes into tub panels that were not designed to carry it, and over corrugations that shows up as flexing and stress around the mounting points. EGR require the brace above 45kg, so leaving it out also puts you outside their fitting requirements if a warranty question comes up later.

Do I need it if my rack sits on a canopy?

No. A canopy roof rack carries its load through the canopy structure and its own internal support frame, not through the tub. The J-Brace only applies where the rack legs mount to the tub itself. If you are unsure which setup you are ordering, tell us the truck and the rack and we will tell you which parts you need.
