Adding the EGR Internal Support Kit takes that to 150kg dynamic, and the support kit is sold separately. This is the cheaper way onto the canopy roof for boards, ladders or a light awning.
Read that number before you order. 80kg covers a couple of kayaks and an awning. It does not cover most rooftop tents with two people in them, and that is where this kit gets bought by mistake.

Fitting and installation
The legs mount to the GEN3 canopy roof and the bars clamp into them. EGR put the DIY install at around an hour. Set the bar spacing to the load before final torque. If you are adding the Internal Support Kit to reach the 150kg figure, fit that first, because it goes in from inside the canopy.

Can I put a rooftop tent on this kit?
Not on the 80kg dynamic rating it comes with. Weigh your tent before you assume it fits, because a hard shell tent plus two people will usually put you well past that. Adding the EGR Internal Support Kit lifts the rating to 150kg dynamic, and that is the configuration to order if a tent is the plan.
How is this different from the full GEN3 roof rack kit?
This is bars on legs. The full kit, part RACK0054, is a rack supplied with the heavy-duty internal support frame already included and rated at 150kg dynamic. If you are carrying boards, ladders or an awning, this kit does the job for less. If you are sleeping up there, buy the full kit.
Do I have to buy the support kit separately?
Only if you need to go past 80kg. The kit works as supplied for lighter loads. The Internal Support Kit is a separate part because plenty of buyers never need it, and it is fitted from inside the canopy, so it is easier to install before the canopy fitout goes in.
