Why a bonnet mount over a bull bar tab
Height. Getting the base up near the top of the guard puts more of the whip above the roofline, which is where it does its work. It also keeps the aerial off the bar, so a recovery or a light knock does not take your comms out with it.
It is not only a UHF mount either. The same bracket is commonly used as a buggy whip mount or a flag mount, which is worth knowing if you run sand flags or work-site whips.

Which side does it mount on?
Passenger side. Pirate Camp Co only make this bracket in a passenger side version, and it is positioned to clear the wipers, windscreen and associated moulding whether the bonnet is open or closed.
Will it fit a Ranger Raptor and an Everest?
Yes. Pirate Camp Co list the one bracket for the Next Gen Ranger, Ranger Raptor and Next Gen Everest. The Ford Ranger Super Duty is a different vehicle and takes its own aerial mount.
Does it suit the Wildtrak specifically?
Yes. Pirate Camp Co list the bracket for the Next Gen Ranger, Ranger Raptor and Next Gen Everest with no trim exclusions, so XL through to Wildtrak and Platinum are covered. It mounts to the bonnet hinge, so what differs inside the cabin between trims does not come into it.
Can I use it for a flag or a buggy whip?
Yes. Pirate Camp Co list buggy whip and flag mounting as intended uses alongside a UHF aerial. Match the base and thread to whatever you are fitting, and keep in mind a long whip loads the bracket differently to a short UHF antenna.
Will it affect my bonnet closing or alignment?
Fitted correctly it should not. The bracket sits on the hinge face and is designed around the standard bonnet position. Torque the hinge bolts to specification when you refit them and check the bonnet shuts and sits flush before you drive it, because hinge bolts are one place you do not want to guess.
