The radio
GME state the XRS-335C is their smallest XRS Connect radio, built on a super compact chassis for modern 4WDs with limited room for a base unit. Second generation features include a 3 watt speaker, an IP67 rated microphone, a high contrast colour TFT LCD screen, a built-in GPS receiver, Bluetooth audio and noise reduction. The Outback Pack pairs it with the medium duty AE4707B radome antenna.
What is included
The four items listed above are what ships. Not included: fusing, any wiring beyond what GME supply in the pack, and antenna upgrades. Pirate Camp Co note that grouped bundle images are used for marketing and do not always show the exact brackets or radio supplied, so work from the list above.
Frequently asked questions
Does fitting this require drilling?
No. The bonnet aerial mount picks up the factory bonnet hinge bolts, and the module and handpiece brackets use existing points around the dash. The trim work is the fiddly part rather than the mounting. Take your time with the clips and keep clear of airbag components behind the fascia.
What is the difference from the XRS-330 bundle?
The radio. The brackets are identical across both bundles, so the choice comes down to which GME unit you want. The XRS-335C is the second generation hardware and the pack Pirate Camp Co list as current. If you have no strong preference, take the 335 bundle.
Does it suit the Wildtrak specifically?
Yes. The brackets work from the bonnet hinge bolts and existing dash structure, which are common across the P703 range from XL through to Wildtrak and Platinum. Trim level changes what is in the cabin, not where these brackets mount.
Can I fit it myself?
Plenty of people do. The brackets are a socket set job. What catches people out is routing coax without pinching it, and picking up a fused ignition-switched supply rather than a permanent live so the radio does not flatten the battery. If that is unfamiliar, an auto electrician will do the lot in about an hour.
