Ford Ranger Next-Gen (2022-Current) Platform Rack - EGR

EGR
Price: $905.00 AUD

An open platform rack for the Ford Ranger Next Gen (P703). EGR state it is compatible with EGR canopies, EGR RollTrac and direct-to-tub installations, and that the platform is customised using the appropriate leg kit to suit your mounting style. Three footprints on the same platform design, rated by EGR to 300kg dynamic.

Platform S is 1350 x 1250 and 14kg. Platform M is 1450 x 1350 and 18kg. Platform L is 1800 x 1250 and 22kg. Pick on what you actually carry rather than what looks right in a photo. The L gives you the length for a rooftop tent front to back. The M is the wider one, which is what you want if jerry cans and a shovel are living down one side.

Specifications

Size Dimensions Weight Part number
Platform S 1350 x 1250mm 14kg RACK0066_1

EGR rate the platform at 300kg dynamic and note that the overall rating depends on the structure it is fitted to, so always check the load capacity of your canopy, RollTrac or tub mounting system as well.

Fitting and installation

The platform is one part of a multi-part job: platform, leg kit, and on tub-mounted builds the lower tub strengthening bracket. If you are putting more than 45kg on top of the tub, EGR require their J-Brace as well. Tell us the truck and what is going on the roof and we will quote the right leg kit with it.

What's included

Included: the platform in the size ordered.

Not included: leg kit, tub mount kit, mounting hardware, lower tub strengthening bracket (J-Brace), canopy, RollTrac, fitting.

Frequently asked questions

Which platform size should I choose?

Work from the load, not the look. Platform L at 1800 x 1250 gives you the length for a rooftop tent front to back. Platform M at 1450 x 1350 is the wider one, better if jerry cans, a shovel and an axe are living permanently down one side. Platform S at 1350 x 1250 suits lighter, occasional loads.

Why is the leg kit sold separately?

Because the legs are what change between builds, not the platform. EGR state the platform is customised using the appropriate leg kit to suit your mounting style, and mounting to a canopy roof, to RollTrac side rails or straight to the tub each needs different legs and hardware. Selling the platform on its own means you buy the legs that match your setup.

Do I need the J-Brace as well?

If the rack mounts to the tub and the total load on top goes over 45kg, yes. EGR require the lower tub strengthening bracket above that figure. Add up the platform itself, which is 14 to 22kg depending on size, the gear strapped to it and the tent with people in it before you decide you are under the number.

Can I sleep in a rooftop tent on this platform?

EGR rate the platform at 300kg dynamic, so the platform itself is not usually the limiting factor. EGR are explicit that the overall rating depends on the structure underneath it, so the rating of the canopy roof, the RollTrac rails or the tub is what governs. Weigh the tent and check it against the rating of whatever the platform is mounting to.
