Do I need the switch panel to use it?

No. The pocket is designed to sit below the Rear Cargo Area Switch Panel and the two look right together, but it works on its own. If you are fitting both, order them together so the mounting positions line up the way they were designed to.

Will it get in the way of rear seat passengers?

Pirate Camp Co state it allows full use of the rear seat with minimal interference. It is deliberately shallow for that reason, which is also why it holds loose items and light gear rather than doubling as deep storage.

How is it held in?

It bolts in and is held with velcro, which sounds slight but is the right answer here. The velcro means it lifts out when you want the cargo area clear, and it goes back without hunting for fasteners or leaving a row of holes in the trim behind it.

What do people actually keep in it?

The loose stuff that otherwise rolls around. Straps, gloves, a head torch, cable ties, tie-down hooks. Pouches strap to the molle face for anything you want organised, and the pocket itself takes the things you grab often enough that a pouch is more trouble than it is worth.
